Sweet Sorbet Sister Card

We have only hours left for Sale-a-bration! Do you have all of your favorite free items of 2014? 12 of the 14 products will be gone for every at 11:59pm tonight (yes I am counting down!)!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday I had the joy of meeting my new nephew! (well, technically, second cousin, but I am Aunty to him!) I got all my baby snuggles in and loved it! He laid on my chest snoring for the longest time!

He is the third babe to this family and has two proud big sisters. When we went to visit we had to take the girls a little gift and of course make a wee little card for them!

On Wednesday night last week I had a group of girls over to watch the Stampin' Up! LIVE broadcast event! It was a first-of-its-kind event and we had so much fun! (you can view the event on YoutTube!) The show started at 11:00pm and we sat on the edge of our seats watching Donna Griffith stamp! After she was done we created some beautiful make and take boxes and treat bags. I think I got to sleep by 2:00am!!! Yes, we are die hard Stampin' fans!

The flowers on these sister cards are a technique that Donna showed us. She cut the flowers from the Sale-a-bration Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper! I loved the idea and had to do it on this card!

Stay tuned for tomorrow's blog and I will show you my amazing baby boy card using the Hello, Sailor Stamp Set!!

Remember that today is the last day to get a FREE sale-a-bration item with each $60 product purchase! You can email me your order by 7:00pm and I will combine it with my party tonight. Or, as always, shop online!

Have a creative day!

Masculine Watercolor Card

My quick and easy March swap card! Our theme this month was Masculine. A theme that I always struggle with. It could be largely to do with the fact that I do not own many "Manly" stamps! Just when you thought I owned the entire catalgoue, right?! Well I am here to report that, sadly, I do not!

I did a watercolor background technique and it has a great impact, with out having to add extra layers to the card. Can you believe I created a card using only two layers of card stock?!

To get this watercolor background:
1.  Squeeze your Classic Stamp Pad together before opening.
(This will transfer the ink to the underside of the lid).

2.  Add water to your to your Aqua Painter. Squeeze a wee bit and dip into the underside of the Classic Stamp Pad lid to pick up color.

3.  Color one face of a Clear Block (I used "D" block).
The trick is the right amount water. It wants to be pretty wet, but not dripping over the edges. Play with it and have fun!

4.  "Stamp" onto your Card Stock.

5.  Dry with your Heat Tool and Stamp a greeting or image over top.

I did add a little bit of stitching to the card to "Step it up". But I think it would be just as cute with out. I am convinced I am going to learn this sewing on card stock thing! I just need to keep practicing!

My March stamp clubs also did this technique on their make and takes. Watch for a blog post with pics coming soon!

Thanks for visiting! Have a creative day!

Chalkboard inspired scrapbook pages

I love the chalkboard technique on these layouts. When I was sharing this with my stamp clubs in February I had a realization .... my children do not know what a real chalk board is. Schools are now generally equip with high tech smart boards.  I think they believe chalk is primarily used to write on the sidewalk on a warm sunny day!

Chalkboarding is a huge trend right now, so it is not completely foreign. DIY'ers are using black chalkboard paint on everything! You can also buy chunks of chalkboard type vinyl. I love Upper Case Living for this! I have added chalkboard vinyl labels to jars in my pantry. Today on Pinterest I saw this post ... cute, right?!

Chalk pens have made chalkboarding neat and clean. Not to mention more durable. Chalk pens do not erase easily like traditional chalk. Often you need to purchase a chalkboard cleaner to clear your surface (Totally worth it though!). Stampin' Up! has a medium tip Chalk Marker available:
Stampin' Chalk Marker   132133 $4.50

Chalkboard fonts are also divine! Quick, easy projects can be created using My Digital Studio. I created this project in just a few moments. Once printed I am going to slip it in a frame and display it in my home.

You can't help but get nostalgic with chalkboarding. It is one of those things that are a vivid memory of your childhood. In my day we had green chalk boards on all four walls of the classroom. Teachers had cool metal chalk holders to keep their hands clean. If you were lucky you had white chalk, yellow chalk, pink chalk and on the rare occasion blue chalk (Although this was difficult to read off the board). Do you remember the chalk rake? It had multiple fingers that you placed chalk into. It was used to draw straight lines across the board for printing & handwriting lessons? Least we forget the chalkboard brush ... and detention time spent cleaning those brushes!? (I was no stranger to detention time ... I always talked too much in class!).

The chalkboard technique on my scrapbook layout is really very simple. I used a Stamping Sponge to gently smear white craft ink over basic black card stock. The trick is really to be gentle. Less is more. You can always add more if you desire.

Do you like the chalkboard trend? Have you tried it? What have you created?

Thanks for reading! I hope you have a creative day!
