school year end treats

Another school year is over! We said good-bye to grade three and kindergarten this year. The kids are excited for what summer brings! Me - not so much! I think they may forget that I still have my Stampin' business to run and that we just can't spend every waking moment eating ice-cream, riding bikes and playing at the park. (Wouldn't that be nice, right?)

I have previewed my little teacher appreciation gifts previously on my blog but I wanted to share what I filled my coffee gift cups with. A little coffee and Baileys might be just what the doctor ordered after 10 months with a room full of kids!

The girls and I create these little treat bags for their friends. Who am I kidding, it was mostly I. They had strict instructions to use three pieces of candy and they all had to be neatly lined up and facing the same way. They totally are going to need therapy one day.

Nearly all the supplies for these treat containers came from this months Paper Pumpkin Kit! The kit was themed to celebrate the 4th of July in the USA. I mixed the kit with a little Calypso Coral & Marina Mist to make it have a summer feel. I think they turned out great. The best part was that I had no stress about designing, cutting paper and ordering supplies. It was all there for me!

Have you heard about Paper Pumpkin yet? Each month you get a surprise kit delivered to your door for a delightful crafting escape! It comes with all the supplies, materials, a stamp set and a mini stamp pad - all for $24.95 (including shipping & taxes, CAD)!!! You seriously need to try it out!

Well - officially - Happy Summer my Dolce friends!!!! I hope you find some time to be creative! (Lord knows it may be a bit hard with a few kids running around!)

swap card scrapbook

Do you ever get a swap card that you love so much you can not bare to part with it? How about create a card and never give it? These scrapbook layouts are perfect to preserve that treasured card forever!

scrapbook layout I
scrapbook layout II

You may recognize both of the "cards" in these layouts from previous blog posts. To learn more about them check out these links & .
scrapbook layout II ~ ombre and ampersands

scrapbook layout I ~ glass block watercolor background

The photo mats are created with a piece of card stock, cut to match the card front dimensions (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). I then trimmed my photographs to 3 3/4" square and mounted them to the top of the photo mats. This gave the Polaroid look (which I love!).

I love the clean look of this quick and simple scrapbook layout. I hope that I have inspired you to turn some of your favorite cards into scrapbook pages.

Thanks for visiting! Have a creative day!

ombre and ampersands

My Ombre Ampersand Card. Just a year ago I had no idea what either of these word meant! (ok, don't judge!)

Ombre - a popular design trend right now. Think of color on a spectrum. Light to dark. A quick search on Pinterest and you will find everything ombre! Nail polish designs, fashion & home decor fabrics and even hair color.

Ampersand - that funny squiggly "and" symbol. Who knew, right?! Yet another huge design trend. Think of all the & symbols you see in T's, pillows, bookends ...

Combine the two and you have my Ombre Ampersand Card! Here is the DIY:
You truly do need the water color paper. Trying this technique on our Whisper White or Very Vanilla would be a bust. The fibers of the cardstock will break down and pill. The water color paper is hearty enough for the technique.

What do you think? Are you loving these two trends?

Thanks for visiting! Have a creative day!

summer soda pop card

ack! Where does the time go!? Has it really been two weeks since my last post?? I assure you it is not for the lack of ideas and projects to share - it has been simply just a lack of time. And we have not even hit summer holidays yet here in Edmonton.

At dinner I asked my kids what they were going to do in the summer on the days Mom has to work. My 7 year old said (and I quote) "wait, you don't get summer vacation too???". The reality of being an adult!

I do scale back a bit in the summer. Less classes and events. But I still maintain a steady pace. Keeps the momentum going and I think my customers just miss me too much if we take a break.

I created this card a while back but it just screams summer to me.

I used Stampin' Write markers directly on the rubber stamp
to ink multiple colors on the soda pop bottle.

We are just two weeks away from summer vacation. I am looking forward to sleeping in and enjoying some lazy summer days. Hopefully I can juggle keeping the kids entertained and working at my Stampin' business.

Thanks for visiting! Have a creative day!
