DIY Monogram Decor Art - Artisan Design Team Blog Hop

Welcome to the weekly Artisan Design Team Blog Hop!! Can you believe that the end of March is here?!

This week I had a vision for my project. I had the idea, dreamed about how it would come together and had it virtually built ... inside my brain. I was fixed on using the Hello Life Project Kit. When I started to make my plan a reality I started strong! Everything was working out the way that I had planned. Half way through I just was not feeling it, like it was missing something. I played and played late into the night. This is what was born ... my DIY Monogram Decor Frame.

I thought I should share with you the DIY part ... First, the rack you see comes with the Project Kit!!! So awesome, right?! It comes a black color and measures 14" x 17". I used spray paint to change it up. When you get the kit the rack is packaged with two heavy weight cardboard sheets. Do not toss those in the recycling! I used these to create the frame and monogram letter that you see!

This kit is bursting with elements for you to jazz up the frame. I did not even put a dent into the kit with the heart banner and chevron background paper that you see.

I did add a couple of supplies to personalize this decor frame. The Whisper White Bakers Twine, a sheet of Chalkboard Paper and the Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim. I have long been a fan on inspirational quotes and could not resist adding one with the Chalk Marker. I had a "real" piece of chalk (from the build a banner kit), and used that to rub the chalkboard paper.

Working with my monogram letter was a bit tough! If I had to do it again I would cut another letter K with Bermuda Bay cardstock and fasten that to the cardboard before I started with the sequin trim. That way, if a wee bit was peeking out between sequins it would not be so obvious.

So what do you think?? It is not exactly as I had dreamed - but I think it came together! A part of me thinks it needs a bit more "something".

  10. Do you generally attract to a framework, by beginning with basic shapes, including more subtleties and wrapping up by including light and shade? Why not turn around the framework and begin with the light and shade and see what occurs. Paul Marciano
