It's all about the details - Fancy Friday Blog Hop

Happy Friday my friends! Are are already at the end of April and the Fancy Friday design team is here with a new blog hop. Today our challenge was to create a project without a greeting.
Sometimes you need a card "just because". A card to write a little note to tells someone that you appreciate them or that you are thinking of them. I created two cards today that are just that.

  • I watercolored a stripped background on the Soft Sky Cardstock with an Aqua Painter and Soft Sky Reinker.
  • The circle behind the dragonfly is a punched 1-3/8" Circle Punch with Whisper White Cardstock. I used a Bone Folder to curl the cardstock like you would curling ribbon. I did it multiple times, in multiple directions. This loosened the fibers of the cardstock and let me pull it apart into two layers.
  • The small dragonflies actually come as one Big Shot Thinlit that has 5 little dragon flies fused together. I used Paper Snips to cut out two for my card.

  • The Emerald Envy vine was cut with the Flourish Thinlits. This thinlit had little flowers included on the die. I used Paper Snips to cut the flowers off so that I just had a vine for this project.
  • I used a Sponge Dauber to add Pink Pirouette Ink to the Pink Pirouette cut flowers for texture and depth.
  • The thread is a piece of Silver 5/8" Satin Ribbon pulled apart. Watch my video for this technique here:

Up next on the Fancy Friday blog is my beautiful friend Erica Cerwin.

  1. So beautiful! They're both lovely, but the first card makes me sing - the beautiful layers, the wood, the sequins! Swoon!

    1. Thank you Shannon. I felt like I put everything and the kitchen sink on the card but I love how it turned out!

  3. What a gorgeous cards! The one with the dragonflies is my favorite.
Thank you for always giving me so much ideas after watching your cards.

    1. Thank you for visiting Bianca. I am so glad that you find inspiration! Have a great weekend.

  4. I think these definitely qualify as "fancy". I just LOVE the embellishments you have used on these cards, especially the technique to take apart the paper and ribbon to give them a whole new look. Thanks for the ideas!
