custom gift box, day 6 - Dolce 12 days of Christmas

Welcome back to the Dolce 12 days of Christmas! Over the 12 days I will be sharing my favorite Stampin' Up! products, showing great holidays project ideas, offering a promotion on my fave things and even giving some away Free!

Today is day 6 - half way though! I am sharing my love of Designer Series Paper this week (DSP). Custom gift boxes are a breeze using the Stampin' Up! Gift Box Punch Board.

This is the largest box that the Gift Box Punch Board will create. It uses a 12x12 sheet of paper and is 4x4x4". Did you know that the board can create up to 15 different sizes of boxes, the smallest box being 1.75x1.75x1.75".

Using Designer Series Paper for custom boxes can be a little flimsy. I find they wont support a lot of weight. Using our heavier weight Under the Tree Specialty Designer Series Paper or any colored cardstock will give the box much more stability. Buuuttt ... I love the color and patterns of DSP so I was determined to find a way to make it work.

A simple fix I found was to cut a piece of heavy cardstock or chipboard to 4x4" and place it in the bottom of the box before closing. I actually used the firm packing sheet that comes with our DSP!
