Give me some Guy Greetings! - Artisan Design Team Blog Hop

Welcome to the weekly Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team blog Hop!

If you have been following us for the month of April you may know that we have been focusing on a product each week as a team. Today we will be sharing project ideas with you highlighting the Guy Greetings Stamp Set!
Guy GreetingsPhotopolymer  $31.95  138828
Clear  $42.95  137178
Wood  $62.95  138825
When we got the Spring Summer Occasions Catalogue it was one of the stamp sets that first stole my heart. I loved it right away and purchased it! I have used it to create a few things so far but I have not created as many projects as I had dreamed I would.

When I sat down this week to start designing for this post I was stumped! Does that ever happen to you? You buy a stamp set or an embellishment and then when you get it in your hands you don't know what to do with it?

I will admit that the masculine theme is not my strong suit but I think they came together in the end .... here you go!

This is the first of two cards using this fun stamp set. I paired it with the bestest Designer Series Paper Stack Eva!! ~ Adventure Bound. My fave detail here might be the staples in the X formation! I had saw this somewhere on Pinterest ... god I love our world of Pinterest ... and thought this was the perfect masculine detail! (ps - you totes need to follow ME on Pinterest!)

This stamp set has so many images and phrases. The first card I shared will be for Arturo. He is our very own construction man and the tools were a perfect fit for him. Aren't working men hot? They are not afraid to get their hands dirty, they are a mans man, they can fix up any ol thing ... yum! Hands off ladies - he is all mine!

The next card has shoes! So perfect for that metro man or the office worker! Who can resist a man in a suit with a fine pair of shoes!? swoon!

If neither of these theme's suit the man in your life there are still four other images (with cutesy phrases to match) that you can use ...
~ an anchor for the nautical chap
~ a classic car for the grease monkey
~ hats for the gentleman and
~ a creepy (yet funny) man for the comedian or bearded bro in your life

Being that I wanted to scrapbook the love of my life this month I carried on with the tools for my layouts. But remember ... where ever I have the tools stamped you can swap that out for any of these amazing images in the set!!

I hope you have been inspired to create something for that hunk of burning love in your life!

DIY gold heart canvas - Artisan Design Team Blog Hop

Welcome back to the weekly Artisan Design Team Blog Hop!

This week the Artisan Design Team will be focusing on two beautiful Designer Series Papers ... the Gold Soiree Specialty paper & Moonlight Paper Stack!

I used the Moonlight Paper Pack last week on the blog hop (check out that project here). So this week I am showcasing a project with the Gold Soiree Designer Series Paper!

I created this DIY art in just minutes for under $10! Here is the scoop!
I purchased a small canvas from the Dollar Store. This one measures 8" x 10" and I paid $1.25 CAD!!! There is nothing I love more than a bargain!!

The Gold Fancy Foil Designer Series Vellum is perfect over the canvas. I trimmed it down to fit and applied Fast Fuse adhesive to the gold stripes to secure it to the canvas. This way the adhesive will not be visible through the vellum.

A quick crank with the Big Shot and I had the heart and "happy" script. Have you heard that the heart die, Hearts Collection, is on the retired list and is on SALE for 50% off! That is $16.48* for 6 heart dies! Even better - the Gold Soiree DSP is also on SALE 50% off ... that is $7.98* for the package of 12 sheets of 12x12 specialty paper!
*pricing is in CAD. Additional shipping and taxes will apply.

Randomly add vintage faceted buttons with Glue Dots to finish! Voila!

Before I run, I wanted to announce the winner of the Blog Candy from last week's Artisan post! I only had  a couple of followers comment on my blog to have the chance to win the bundle of Cellophane bags, Bakers Twine and Cotton Ribbon. Selected by random draw, the winner is .... AJ ROSS!
You will have until Friday, April 24, 2015 night at 5pm (mountain time). Comment here or contact me to claim your prize! (This contest was open to Canadian residents only).

A tropical treat! - Hawaii Grand Vacation Blog Hop

I have a very exciting treat for you today! I am participating in a HUGE blog hop with 30 amazing Stampin' Up! demonstrators that have achieved the Grand Vacation to Hawaii this year!

If you are already enjoying the hop, you have come from Lisa Curico.

Get your tropical fruity drink and Hawaiian shirts ready - we are sharing our Hawaiian themed projects with you!

I was so proud of this card when I created it. As per my usually routine, I ran upstairs to show Arturo. He had a squishy look on his face and I could tell that he did not like it. Sigh. I was bummed! He said that the flowers were not right. He suggested that I should have researched Hawaiian flowers and done something more on point. He said that the card was okay, but adding Hawaiian flowers would have taken it to the next level. Can you believe that! humph!

When I woke up the next morning Arturo came to me with his iphone showing me with a photo of flowers on it. I am not a morning person and getting the kids out the door is a process. I was not in the mood to look at his phone and I could have cared a less about what he was looking at. He insisted I looked closer ...

Guess what I saw?? The national flower for Hawaii. Guess what it looked like??? YES! My flowers!!!! The Yellow Hibiscus!! There is no better glory than when your husband is WRONG!

Pretty close, right? Anyway, back to my card!! Take a closer look ...

My favorite detail on the card has to be the white washed wood paneling for the back ground.
1. Stamp the horizontal line stamp from Gorgeous Grunge in Crumb Cake on a sheet of Crumb Cake card stock. I had my card stock cut to 5 1/2" x 4 1/2". It is okay if all of the "lines" do not match up perfectly.
gorgeous grunge stamp set
2. Use you your Stampin' Trimmer and cut the card stock into 3/4" strips.

3. Ink a Stampin' Sponge with Crumb Cake Classic Ink and sponge all four edges of the strip.

4. Ink a Stampin' Sponge with Whisper White Craft ink. Gently wash the card stock running the sponge along the length of the strip.

5. Trim your strips down to fit your card front. I did each of them slightly different to add to the random effect.

6. Use the Stampin' Distress Tool to distress each of the 4 edges.

7. Use a Paper-piercing Tool and a Stampin' Pierce Mat to poke the "nail" holes.

8. Cover your base card stock with Fast Fuse and place your strips down.

Ta-da!!! That is all!! Cool, right?

I do hope you loved my technique (and my card, unlike my husband)! I had a lot of fun making it! I think this may be my swap card for the trip ... As long as I can find enough time to do this technique 26 times!!!

Next on the blog hop is Kim Gavarra ... Enjoy!

Colorful crackers! - Artisan Design Team Blog Hop

Welcome to the April edition of the Stampin' Artisan Design Teams Facebook Project blog hop!

Each month we create a wonderful selection of projects for you and Stampin' Up! shares them on their official Facebook page. I know that this monthly posting is always highly anticipated by our followers!

I have named this project Colorful Crackers! As a mom every time I hear the word Crackers I think of Jake and the Neverland Pirates on Disney Jr.. One of many catch phrases on that show is "Crackers"! They use is as you would say "Darn" (I would use a more R rated word here ... if you know what I mean).

One can never know how a cartoon can have an effect on you until you are a parent ... have you watched this YouTube video yet? Awe, Coconuts - I giggle every time!

Here is my project today! Yo ho, Let's go! ...

In the April Artisan Design Box was the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. This paper was new to me and I have to admit that I had not even noticed it in the annual catalogue. Yey-hey, No Way! The colors and patters are beautiful!

The sheets are 4-1/2" x 6-1/2" each. I simply folded the sheets in thirds to create the crackers. I did not even measure the thirds, I just grab em' and go.

Make sure you use Sticky Strip or Fast Fuse when you are securing the Designer Series Paper. It will give you the best holding power.

The cracker inside is a Gusseted Cellophane Bag (yes - Stampin' Up! sells these). I filled the bag with a few treats, tied a ribbon on each end and then cut the bottom fused edge off.

Add a little pizazz here and there and yo ho, you are ready to go!

The gusseted cellophane bag just slides in and out of the cracker.

Before I send you off to Lisa on the blog hop I wanted to share a treat with you! BLOG CANDY! This week I will be giving away the following bundle to one lucky winner ....
  • Gusseted Cellophane bags (25 count)
  • A roll of Daffodil Delight 1/4" Cotton Ribbon

To enter to win all you need to do is comment* below on this blog post. Tell me what TV show or Cartoon that your children (or you) have watched excessively! When I was a kid it was the movie The Little Rascals!

*Blog Candy give away is open to Canadian residence only.
