Pink Power - Fancy Friday Blog Hop

Friday after a short week feels so great, doesn't it? (Last weekend was a long weekend here in Alberta, Canada). Even better is that it is the last Friday of the month and that means that it is Fancy Friday blog hop time!

PINK! What a fun theme we have for you this month!! I had so much fun creating, and I could not resist sharing with you, so get ready for 10 pink cards!

This is where it all started. I loved the Pink Pirouette with the feathers from the Feather Together Stamp Set. I would call this an Artisan or advanced card, a style that I love to do. I saw so much potential in the Feather Together Stamp Set that I wanted to create a few more cards that were more clean and simple. I started to play with the feathers and greetings from the set and these note cards were born.

For this card I dragged my Pink Pirouette stamp pad across my Whisper White cardstock. The card above has the feathers stamped with Flirty Flamingo ink. To soften the color of the Flirty Flamingo, I inked the feather stamp, stamped a scrap piece of paper and then stamped my card front, without reinking the stamp in between. This technique is called "the stamp off technique".

For this card, I sprinkled Gold Emboss Powder over the Flirty Flamingo feathers, while the ink was still damp. I rubbed some of the powder off in areas so that the feathers were partially gold and partially pink.

Up next on the blog hop is my friend Jennifer Frost.
Click over to Jennifer in Australia and see her pink project!

I have one more bonus card for you. I wanted to try a different pink with the feathers and created a note with Watermelon Wonder. I think that I prefer the Pink Pirouette, what do you think? Comment below and let me know!

Thank-you for visiting. Have a creative day!

Playing Perfect Plum - GDP075

I was shopping at Joe Fresh this week fell in love with the spring colors! The entire women's department was Lilac, Plum, Grey and Black. Joe Fresh often does a trending color combo for a seasonal line. It is so satisfying to my senses to see a store neat, organized and color coordinated! Plus - it is fun to coordinate office wear, active wear, lounge wear and outerwear (My OCD dream). I purchased a couple of new shirts and new Plum floral sports bras - perfect for my stay at home mom uniform.

I do not craft often with purple, but I was so inspired by my shopping trip, I busted out my Perfect Plum ink!

My dragonflies were inspired by the Global Design Project challenge "Winged Creatures", #GDP075. Click over the the GDP to see more amazing projects and to learn how you can create along with us!

I am not planning on putting away my purple inks just yet. Next I am going to add Smoky Slate and Basic Grey to my color combo. Are you a purple fan? What color is your least used color? Comment below, I would love to hear from you. Maybe it will inspire me to try something new!

Have a creative day,

Egg-cellent Easter Table Decor

In Edmonton this week the weather has been over 10C! The snow is melting and the warm sun is a welcome change. The days are getting longer and I noticed last night, when I was cooking dinner at 5:00pm, the sun was still up (starting to set, but up!).

This makes me want to freshen up my decor and has me thinking about Easter. My followers will know that I love to do tablescapes, party treat tables and DIY home decor projectsIn fact, the people at Arhaus have inspired me to do a tablescape blog post this week.

One click over to Arhaus and I was in love. Can redecorating your home be a hobby? I swear, I could endlessly change my furniture, artwork, colors, etc.. Currently on my home shopping list are new kitchen chairs. We have had these ones for 15 years! The fabric seats are tearing and the metal frames are chipped and covered with paint smudges and little fingerprints from kid art projects. Of course, you can't purchase the chairs without a new table (what fun would that be?). Arhaus has beautiful dining room collections and they are inspiring me to make an update.

These egg carton place cards are created with Stampin' Up! products, of course. They actually came together in no time but have a huge WOW factor. The egg cartons are a new Stampin' Up! product in the Spring Catalogue. In fact, they have been so popular, they are not available in North America until the end of March. That may not make it for your Easter table this year but you could always purchase them and plan your Easter table - 2018!

The small Mint colored easter eggs are actually chocolate covered almonds from Bulk Barn! They are almost too cute to eat - almost. I did have to taste test one and they were delish!

Over the years I have acquired a large shopping bag full of multipcolored, plastic Easter eggs. You may have guessed, but if they do not match my decor they do not get used. I decided to upcycle these tacky plastic eggs with some spray paint.
They all have little holes in the top and bottom. I stuck a toothpick into the end of the eggs and then stuck them into a block of green floral foam. Spray them and let them dry. Flip the eggs over and spray the underside.

Adding glitter to these eggs is as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4 ....

I had a square of wet paper towel when I was creating these.
It quickly and easily let me wipe the glue and glitter from my fingers as I was working.

I love to have fresh cut flowers on my table. Keep your table decor in mind when you are shopping for your flowers and choose colors that tie into your tablescape. I took it one step further at tied a matching ribbon around my jar (yes, jar ... I had an old IKEA storage jar and had broken the lid. It is the perfect size and height for my table).

Growing up, my family always beautifully set tables for family gatherings and special occasions. I learned, one of the most important table setting rules is to iron (my Grandma would say "press") your table cloth and napkins (you always need cloth napkins and a table cloth). Ironing a tablecloth on an ironing board can be challenging. They are long and acquard to work with. Here is my life hack:

I hope that I have inspired you to freshen up your tablescape for spring! Thank-you so much for visiting. Leave a comment below. I would love to hear from you and how you change your table decor for the season or holiday. Have a creative day!
